Frequently asked Questions
Disruption to the turf should be expected. When tree limbs are dropped, dragged, or hauled with equipment the weight and friction can cause divots and tracks in a green lawn. This impact can be reduced by roping limbs, cutting limbs into smaller pieces, and hand removing logs instead of using heavy equipment. It’s important to note that these practices can decrease damage to the surrounding turf, however it does increase the amount of time and labor required for removal which increases the overall cost of the project. When we create an estimate for the project, we’ll work with your priorities to create a well-balanced cost-effective strategy for your yard.
We work with both commercial and residential clients and the special circumstances that each requires. Commercial clients often need the work to be completed around their hours of operation. Our residential clients like to come home at the end of their day to see the project completed while they were at work.
To prepare trees (other than Oaks) for a Michigan winter, start by pruning back any dead or damaged branches or any branches touching the ground. These can provide shelter for insects and pests and increase the likelihood of an infestation. Pruning should NOT be done on Oak Trees until December, due to the potential spread of Oak Wilt. Consider aerating any compacted soil or adding fertilizer. Add a fresh layer of mulch surrounding the trunk and spreading to the outer dripline of the canopy. This will help insulate the roots and provide nutrients through the winter months. Be cautious not to ‘mound’ the mulch against the trunk, which can cause rot on the bark and damage the health of the tree. If trees are young, they may need to be wrapped to protect against harsh winds and animal damage.
Clark Tree Service uses all the wood from every removal in several different ways. If the property owner would like to keep the wood it can be left as large logs or chipped on site and provided as mulch. If the property owner wants the wood removed the resulting mulch and wood is provided to many parks and green sites in our community. Any remaining wood is used as a fuel source for a large wood-burning stove which heats our facility.
Payment is required upon completion of the project. We accept cash, check or credit cards.

We can trim any type of tree including Oaks. It’s important to know we will only trim Oak trees between December and March due to the potential spread of Oak Wilt.
There is no way to provide a cost of a trim or removal without visiting the site and assessing the tree in person. There are many elements to consider when creating a job cost estimate; accessibility of the site, stability of the tree, drop zone access, sensitive areas around the tree, equipment required, and so many more. Once we have viewed the tree, we’ll create an estimate for you to approve before we schedule the work. Contact us to set up your estimate today!
All vehicles, personnel and equipment are fully insured.
Call our emergency line and we’ll come to your site and assess your tree’s stability and provide you with an effective plan and estimate for removal. Emergency removals take priority over scheduled work. We make the safety of our customers our top priority.
